Talk note - Atsushi Miyawaki's talk

Beautiful photos shown in Dr. Miyawaki's talk entertained and facsinated people in CSHL attending to the Axon guidance people. After he introduced recent his published work, he talked about hundreds of species of GFP varients his group cloned recently from many coral animals. One of them changes color by UV activation, another is activated by UV reversibly. The finding of the reversible photo-activator can be a major advancement of cell science. This allowed them to measure time course of diffusion of XFP-ERK2, and in and out-movement between nucleous and cytosol. His idea of using a plate coated with the photo-activator as a memory tip is probably not practical, but a movie showing blnking charactors made of fluorescence proteins were just gorgeous, and fun.
